My name is Carrie Kinder and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology from Indiana University and my Masters in Social Work from IUPUI. I have experience working in schools, community mental health centers, group homes, residential facilities, and outpatient settings. My goal is to meet you where you are and assist you, the expert, in finding meaningful solutions.
I believe in providing an honest and direct approach in working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. I have extensive knowledge and experience working with children and families who have been exposed to various types of trauma including mental, physical, and sexual abuse. I also have experience working with individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, personality disorders, stress management, addictions and recovery, conflict resolution, work and career issues, behavioral issues, and parenting challenges. My primary approach is solution-focused and strengths-based, using cognitive-behavioral interventions (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT). I currently co-lead a DBT group at Axon Health which targets those who struggle with managing emotions, have unhealthy coping strategies, help to improve relationship skills and learn the importance of mindfulness. Because of professional restrictions, I cannot serve clients currently involved with The Indiana Department of Child Services.
